The Finnish name Maa ilmasta is a wordplay on double meanings; it translates to ’from the universe’ as well as ’Earth from the air’ or ’Earth from above’. This ambiguity reflects the aesthetics of the band, simultaneously not taking themselves too seriously but creating some seriously good songs.

Led by Benjami Koskinen, Maa ilmasta plays instrumental rock with a big heart and an open mind. Their atmospheric music is at times serious – and at times not so serious. Founded in 2016 in Jyväskylä, now based in Helsinki, the band is known for their spectacular live performances.
